Logo Datenschutz Sandbox
  • The "Data Protection Sandbox" project is developing a regulatory experimental space in which companies and authorities can test new digital applications under real-world conditions in compliance with data protection regulations. The goal is to identify data protection problems early on and enable legally compliant innovations. Supported by the University of Bayreuth and the Rhineland-Palatinate Office for Data Protection, the project will analyze the legal and technical framework, establish a sandbox, and develop guidelines for data protection authorities (starting October 2024, 3 years, €1.01 million, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research).

  • Data4Collar is concerned with two processes that are intertwined in the industrial production of many functional components: shear cutting and collar drawing. The latest data analysis technologies and process chain modeling approaches are intended to ensure efficient and robust production. Starting June 2023.

  • Data-driven process analysis for context-sensitive management of functional areas to reduce emissions and promote animal welfare in free-ventilated pig barns with outdoor exercise: Sensors, video data and AI algorithms will form a monitoring system in the future that will make it possible to analyze pig behavior in real time. Deviations from expected behavior patterns will be detected and visualized as key indicators. This will provide farmers with indications of potential problems and enable them to redesign the animals' housing conditions, not least with regard to the climatic conditions in the barn. By using AI-based algorithms for behavior recognition, animal welfare can be significantly improved and environmental protection significantly promoted (started 2023, 3 years)
Logo NFDI
  • The main goal of the consortium NFDIxCS is to identify, define and finally deploy services to store complex domain specific data objects from the specific variety of sub-domains from Computer Science (CS) and to realize the FAIR principles across the board. This includes to produce re-usable data objects specific to the various types of CS data which contain not only this data along with the related metadata, but also the corresponding software, context and execution information in a standardized way (started March 2023, 5 years)
  • As part of the Smart-VHB project, new learning units on the topic of "Generative AI" are being developed. Once completed, the teaching units will be accessible via the Virtual University of Bavaria (vhb). Further information is available here.
Logo SOURCED Projekt
  • DFG research unit FOR 5495 "SOURCED – Process Mining on Distributed Event Sources" provides the methodological foundations of novel process mining techniques for data from the Internet of Things. Starting summer 2023

Recent Projects

Bild Datencampus Projekt
  • The central focus of the Data Campus project is the development of a data and AI strategy for the various departments, from data generation to systematic analysis and subsequent use. The project is funded by the State Chancellery of Schleswig-Holstein (started December 2021, 3 years).
Bild Foerde5G Projekt
  • The focus of the “FJORD 5G” project is on the development, testing and demonstration of systems that use the 5G mobile communications standard to enable autonomous modes of transport and to interconnect them in the long term. It involves a 5G simulation in a virtual test field, 5G data management and a 5G control center to monitor autonomous maneuvers (started September 2021)
